Wonderful Fresh Wonders…

Posted by willow on 14th December 2009

Our latest weekly contest winners have been spotlighted – last week we had interview with Kim and this week we’re hosting Irene aka dancerene. This young lady is someone you shouldn’t miss – she’s got talent and great potential. She’s got style! And she’s quite an artist! You can read her interview (a little different than others…) in Squidoo Spotlight.

Another weekly contest also ended – Make Your Own Holiday hosted by Laniann. If you have time, you should stop by her contest lens and check out all the new holidays that were invented last week! And maybe you get inspired to make up your own, personal holiday! You know, never enough of holidays and celebrations!

Winner of this contest, and the most appealing new holiday was voted: Tread Softly Day by WordCustard. In her own words: “My holiday, then, is Tread Softly Day, a day to put a hold on our commercial, self-obsessed existence and preoccupation with all things human. A day to reflect on our home planet and all other species who live here. A day to tread softly, do no harm, and notice the beauty of nature.”

Time flies… And Christmas is almost at the door!

Posted by willow on 9th December 2009

This has been great month! Many great new lenses have been created by both old and new members of Fresh Wonders! On our last contest, we had a tie! :) So, officially, there are two winners! And rightfully, I may add. You can see what I’m talking about if you visit these outstanding lenses: Wedding Caricature – Step by Step Drawing and Painting of a Caricature for Wedding by dancerene and The Lost Art of Conversation by kimmanleyort. Have to say: all of the lenses that entered Telling a Story With Images weekly contest have been really something special. They may not bring a fortune to their creators, but they are great example of using pictures and writing story in the most creative way!

Kim agreed to share some of her experiences about Squidoo for Squidoo Spotlight so, stop by and read interview with her. She’s really lady with many talents. And wonderful friend!

And reminder, Fresh Squid Contest is open for voting until December 31st. Hmmmm… Don’t wait for the last moment! You know that you will not have enough time to visit all those lenses few days before Christmas! So, better head to the contest lens right now! :) Vote for your favorites (you can have multiple choices!) and help new members of our community feel welcome!

Weekly Contests – One is Over, One Begins!

Posted by willow on 2nd November 2009

First Fresh Wonders weekly contest (topic was community appreciation) ended today. The winner is cheerful blue-hair lady who goes on Squidoo by the name luvmyludwig! Her lens 2 Squidoo Angels 2 Squidoo Greeters = 4 Blessings (the coolest title ever!) has gained the most votes! She made a really pretty, but more importantly, sincere lens about those who inspire her.

With this said, it’s time to move on to the second week contest and this one is hosted by Mickie_G. Topic of Contest: selling on Squidoo. She have set the rules by saying: “Make a lens that is not Spammy! Be subtle. Give personal reviews. Do not be pushy.” Now, we have 13 lenses submitted by members of Fresh Wonders on the plexo, ready for your voting and choosing the best selling-but-not-pushy lens! :)

Like during our 1st contest, there is a second plexo open for all the members of Squidoo. This is where you can add those selling lenses you created and can be used as an examples of the great selling lenses!

First weekly contest – saying thanks to Community!

Posted by willow on 26th October 2009

One of the best things anyone can do is to say thank you! And if you’re member of Squidoo, you know this: We say thank you with the lenses!

Fresh Wonders have their 1st weekly contest ongoing this week. Hosted by Giant Squid and dear friend Kathy McGraw. For this contest she picked a subject: Community Appreciation. As she said herself: “It is about community spirit and working together for the betterment of all of us. Squidoo is a Community of not only lensmasters, but Greeters and Angels that help us make our lens better, and Angels that come by and give Blessings to deserving lenses. They support all of us, and now we will do something for them.”

We decided to keep out weekly contests open for whole Squidoo community and this is why on each of the contest lenses, everyone will have an opportunity to add their best lenses on the topic of the contest in separate plexo. This will be also a learning opportunity for our newest members – to browse all of the best lenses on Squidoo and learn by example!

So, come by and vote for your favorite entry and add your favorite tribute lens! Winners will be announced on next Monday so you have until Sunday evening to help decide who this will be! And thank you for support! :)

Fresh Squids ARE MOVING TO NING!

Posted by willow on 12th October 2009

After a long consideration what to do with Fresh Squid group and my reluctance to leave this group to its faith or delete it, I’ve decided to move it to Ning. Wonder Squids, members of WiWon team volunteered to help out, so we are transforming our existing Ning community to safe learning place for Fresh Squids.

This Ning community will remain private but every lensmaster from Squidoo is welcomed to join in, regardless of number of lenses, gender or age. We all have different backgrounds, different views on things and we all can learn from each other!

We’ll have open classrooms, big sisters for extra support and fun weekly contests for all of the members! We’ll have a blast! You can learn more and apply to join us here: Fresh Squids Moving to Ning!

As a tagline of this blog but also on Ning says: Fresh Squids and Wonder Squids swimming together in the Squidoo sea – and this is all about helping and supporting each other! We’ll be happy if you decide to join us!
